My favourite quotes vary with age:
Twenties ~ “Carpe Diem” – enthusiasm and naivety of youth
Thirties ~ Make sure you’re right, then go ahead ( Davy Crockett) – determination of career choice
Forties ~ If you are going through hell, keep going (Winston Churchill) – ups and downs
Fifties ~ “Growin’ old ain’t for sissies” (Bette Davis) or “Be Yourself – everyone else is already taken” (Oscar Wilde) The former for obvious reasons and the second because even at this late stage I need reminding to do this.
All-time favourite and one which would saved me a lot of trouble:
“If you expect the world to be fair with you because you are fair, you are fooling yourself. That is like expecting the lion not to eat you because you did not eat him.”
